Nursing Student with a Carb Addiction

Hi everyone!

I'm Shelby, a teenage nursing student who loves loves loves bread and pasta. I used to play tennis, and kept in fairly decent shape, but now I'm trying to figure out how to do this whole working out and eating right thing. Anyone with any tips or tricks to keeping away from the carb/bread addiction is welcome to message me about it! :)

Peace,

Shel

    HI Shelby and welcome!

Many people find that elimination of refined carbohydrate (sugar and flour, which includes your bread and pasta) will, after a bit of time, also eliminate the cravings for them.

If that's not enough ... Try reducing your overall carbohydrate intake enough to still fuel your activity (usually 40% of your total caloric intake is enough for this, unless you're an endurance athlete) and get the majority of your carbohydrate from non-starchy vegetables, whole grains (literally whole grain, not 'whole-wheat flour' which isn't anything resembling whole grain), and moderate amounts of lower-GI fruit and that may do it.

If that *still* doesn't do it ... You may be in for a bit of a battle, and I'd suggest you join the paleo/primal support group and/or low carber support group as both of those have many carb-addicts in them that have worked hard to eliminate those cravings and improve their fitness.

    Good luck!
