When you lost your significant amount of weight, did you stop sweating all the time?

I'm at the point of this weight loss plan where I don't even care about looking good or being healthy, I just don't want to sweat so much all the time.

Are you literally sweating all the time or just sweating alot while working out? No matter what just depending on how hard you're working, you most likely going to sweat.

But if you're sweating while walking or doing average tasks than that you're body still saying, "I'm working, and i'm hot so I'm going to sweat to cool down." Most likely the sweating is going to lesson because it takes less energy to move and do tasks.

if you sweat as much as you're making it sound you probably have a medical condition known as hyperhydrosis, which is ridiculous sweating all the time regardless of overheating etc...

    I'd get that checked out.

Again I'm sorry to report that this was what I found too. The reason for the extra sweating is to do with fitness. Ever been to a group fitness session and looked around? The ones absolutely dripping with sweat are the super fit people and instructors. As your body becomes fitter and more acclimatised it learns to control body temperature more efficiently by sweating.

I mean, obviously (well from you've said I assume) your original sweating isn't caused by this so maybe someone who has lost weight on diet alone might be able to help?

I sweat more now while working out, yes.

I'm pretty sure I sweat far less now when *not* working out than I did before.
  • You made me giggle! I agree. Sweat is not a bad thing it helps keep the body cool. Some people just naturally sweat more then others. As long as you shower daily it's not like your going to smell bad so let the body do it's thing.

When I worked at a popular gym a trainer told me he could always tell when someone was not used to working out or not in really good shape by the way they sweat, he said if you are used to working out you can go thru most of the workout drills without breaking a sweat, but if you sweat profusely it's your body's way of telling you it's not used to being this strained and it's trying to keep cool, Anyway, I'm not sure if this helped you, maybe you're just more active since you lost weight and your body is trying to keep up by staying cool/sweating.

I've lost, and kept off, about 80 lbs. I find that I sweat much less during normal activities - more during workouts, as it should be. Interestingly, I've been told that as you get more fit you actually sweat sooner when working out, which is the total opposite of what minirose has heard. LOL. I suppose to some extent it depends on your body chemistry. Hopefully, you'll have less problem with it as you lose!

Oh I'm not a fitness guru by any means, But what I was told came from a trainer that was paid big bucks to know what he was talking about. Also, I worked at front desk and could see the people working out, I will have to say the buffed up guys with huge arms and trim waists always looked like they were cooler and dryer than the "weekend" warriors that were trying to play catch up.

I am always interested when there are completely different views about something like this. Both can't be right! I'm not dogging what you were told, but I guess I still think there is an individual body chemistry difference also. I used to sweat much more just doing daily activities and would feel like I was suffocating when it was hot. All the fat insulated me I suppose! I also rarely got cold in the winter. Now, I don't feel so bad when it's hot, but FREEZE in the winter. I can finally wear sweaters lol! But I still only sweat above my neck. I'll never pit out a shirt, no matter how hard I work out. You'll never see me with a sweat soaked shirt down to my waist. Maybe at the neckline in the back if I work hard enough that that much sweat drips off my scalp. I keep hoping that I will sweat normally if I lose enough weight. Probably not, but I keep hoping!
