Seeking advice on Calories in/ out

I get the whole physics part of the calories in/ calories out equation. I'm pretty active but I only get to make it to the gym 3 times a week. On gym days I work out like a beast. For example, a typical workout, 150 floors on stairmaster, core for 30 mins, upper or lower body with weights and resistance, then about 8 miles on a stationary bike. I guess my question is, should I be consuming more calories on workout days or keep it around 1200? I really want to lose 30lbs! I just want to make sure I'm giving my body what it needs to accomplish my goals. Any advice?

Consume more. If you are normally eating 1200 and burning 500, then you need to eat at least 1700 so that you NET 1200

Yeah, it's important to keep in mind that your body 'needs' energy to burn bodyfat. And that energy comes from food. So, while it's counter-intuitive, you have to eat more to burn more (in a sense). Try to eat a bit more on your workout days and see if that helps you get closer to your goals. Good luck!
