you shouldn't include just to say that you do. Many people (like me) include it in their dietary regimen because it can be difficult to eat enough natural source protein to satisfy the protein demands of an intense workout schedule while still maintaining the other macro nutrients in their respective ratios. There are many variables when deciding if you need it or not. Does your daily journal show a definite lack in the protein department? are you trying to build muscle or maintain lean muscle mass? is there a way you could eat differently than you are now, that would provide you with enough protein for your needs. If you eat meat regularly, maybe eating a bit more would be enough, or maybe not. I prefer eating natural food for most of my protein requirements, but trying to eat only meat instead of supplementing with a shake would be fairly expensive for me. Each of us has to determine our own circumstances to find the best fit.
