Back injury has halted gym and have gained 3lbs

I woke tuesday morning with a really painful lower back, it had been aching for a couple of weeks but nothing major, immediately started to take diclofenic (sp) paracetamol, heat pad and diazipam (sp) at night. Have had it before but over a year ago, have been going to the gym recently 2/3 times a week but only doing cardio as that is what the fitness instructor suggested then after 6 weeks to include strengthining (sp). anyway i have been really good with what i am eating, if anything a bit under as i am not doing any exercising, except back ones given by gp and i seem to have put on 3lbs! gutted isn't the word for it, so deflated reallt don't want to put any weight on :o(((((((((

    Try finding exercises that won't bother your back. Maybe take up walking or biking until the pain eases up.

    As you've had back problems in the past obviously a weakness there, would really try out Pilates to strengthen back. Also maybe try swimming and walking in the meantime. No impact or weight exercises while back is unhappy.
