Sudden Weight Gain after decreasing Calories

I started my weight loss journey in October to loose my baby weight (and a few extra lbs that I've gained along the way) I'm now down 37lbs. My goal is to loose 55lbs. For the most part I have been steadily loosing about 1lb a week. I've had a week here and there where I have only lost .5 so I decided to decrease my calorie intake a week ago to try and loose 1.5lbs a week. Today I gained 1.2lbs. I'm feeling frustrated since this is the first time I have ever gained. I am not miscalculating my calories. I measure everything out and if anything, I've gone below my 1240 a week. Anyone have any idea why I'm gaining instead of loosing?

Without seeing your diary, I will get started throwing out common reasons:

    Water weight due to...

    high sodium intake
    low water intake
    medicines you are taking
    hormonal fluctuations

Do you work out? Because when I am regularly exercising, I find it very difficult to lose weight if I am under eating. That could also be a cause.

I don't routinely work out. I haven't been drinking as much water this week as I normally do but that's about it.
