Couple Routines

So I've been hitting the gym pretty frequently (5-6x per week) and my boyfriend has started going with me! (: Except, he isn't trying to lose weight, more like bulk up. Yesterday we were doing this sit up machine, and one of us would stand at the others feet and we would pass the medicine ball back and forth while doing sit ups. (I could only do 27 while he manned up and did 45 lol) anyways, my question is what other types of gym routines can you do with a spouse/significant other/friend while at the gym.

I workout at home because someone has to be home with the kids in the am, and my husband goes to the gym. On the rare occasions that they're at their grandparents for the week or something, I'll go with him in the morning. But, he does his thing, I do mine. He'll give me a spot, andpreviously when I didn't really have too much of a set routine, I'd kind of take his suggestions, but now our workouts are just different.

You guys could try doing a basic lifting routine and one lifts during the other's rest. And then for cardio go for walks together or take a spinning class together or run on side by side treadmills. If he wants to "bulk up", he's definitely going to have to lift heavy. You can do the same routine (at weights appropriate for you) and still lose weight.

JenMc14 pretty described what my wife and I do. We do the same routines, and take turns. Sometimes, if she doesn't need a spot, then I might do another exercise (superset or dropset). What's nice about having a partner is that you can have a spotter for a lot of exercises and thus, inspire one to go up in weight.

Exactly! My boyfriend was in a weight training class through highschool so he isn't shy to do anything at the gym. I'm always afraid I'll do something wrong because I've never been acclimated to the gym before now. He definitely goes a lot higher in the weights than I do but i try to keep up as much as I can. That's why I was looking for something we could both do together cuz when I'm alone I feel a little lost and don't know what to do. lol
