Please go to a doctor before you do more damage to your shoulder. If your regular doc doesn't want to refer you to a specialist, ask for a second opinion. Either that or insist on being sent to a specialist. It's your health and well being on the line, not your doc's.

Like I said, when I see my GP (who was not the one I told my shoulder problems to) I'll let her know.

But my shoulder does NOT hurt when I go about my daily activities. It only hurts when I do push ups or lift weights, or even try to swim.

I can pick up my laundry, or vaccuum my house with no popping or pain. It's just weird, but yes... I will tell my GP about it when I see her again.

By the way Tazminacat, any physician who says your shoulder "just pops" without doing a thorough investigation, which would include an MRI and Ortho referral, then this doc needs to retire!

Trust me, I agree, but I was a kid when I got it looked at, and didn't have the girl balls to argue with him. Live and learn they say.

I agree that you need to see a Dr (probably multiple) and push for testing. I have a bad back/hip/shoulder and I've been to so many different Drs, it is maddening. After finding out I had herniated discs, I've been to physical therapy, had cortisone injections, and been to a Chiro for A.R.T. I'm now in physical therapy again at a different place. While the herniated disc causes pain, there is no doubt in my mind that there is something wrong with my muscles/bones/joints in addition or may actually be the cause of the herniation to begin with. My Dr shirked it off that this might be a possibility even though he felt my left hip as being higher and rotated in. How could that not cause pain? Is there a reason I'm like this? He thought nothing of it. I don't know...I've had injuries, but I've had bad hips for a long as I can remember. ART and physical therapy is helping my muscles "let go" and train the muscles that are weak (and I thought I was pretty in shape and doing the right things). If I kept working out without doing what I do now, I would continue to get worse in my opinion. Am I cured? No, but I hope I'm on the right track after too many years in pain. I refuse to give up and take painkillers.

Ok, long story...sorry, but I just want to say that there are new things you can learn and YES!! doing exercises without knowing what is wrong could be damaging your shoulder. Please be careful! This is an important thing to spend money on.
