Doesn't Make Any Sense

When I eat all or nearly all of my calories(which includes my exercise cal. as well) and for kicks I press the "If everyday were like today, you'd weigh --- in 5 weeks" button. It ALWAYS will make me heavier than I already am. With all of the threads about how you must eat your exercise calories back, if I didn't know better, I'd quit! Anyone else feel this way? Otherwise this site is awesome.

Your diary isn't open, so I can't help there, but I'm thinking that you must have your setting or goals set wrong. Make sure that you set it to LOSE _ lbs a week, not maintenance or gain.

It does that because its assuming your eating the same amount of calories everyday but without the exercise. & i am assuming without the exercise you would be technically over which is why it is showing a gain. Dont pay to much attention to it.

I pay no mind to the "if everyday" thing...I also do not eat back every single calorie. I changed my calorie goal as well and do not follow the 1200 one..I use my TDEE - % which is my calorie goal with exercise. I still log my exercise but Ionly try for the calorie goal. :) Which is not always up to every single one. Seems to be working as 5 days in - lost 2.9 YA!! Previously (1200) I lost nothing or gained :(

I found a spreadsheet on here somewhere that helped me calculate everything - including what to change for carbs / protein.

I am now confident I am on my way! Not everyone is the same either - you need to play around to find what works. If you are only do 1200 calories plus exercise...chances are you may need more calories to get your metab. going! I was afraid to do it...but SO glad I did!

Go to "MY HOME: tab, then select Settings and Update diet/fitness profile. Plug in your personal info, then select a normal daily activities. If you like to log all exercise separately, choose sedentary or lightly active, depending on your job. It really doesn't matter what you put for "times a week exercising", that is just a goal, it won't affect your calories until you actually log the exercise daily. Then choose a goal of how much weight to lose a week.

    Hope this helps:)

Did you let MFP calculate your calorie goal, or did you set it custom yourself?

If you don't complete your entry for the day then that does not pop on the screen so you don't have to worry about looking at it. Not hitting the complete button in no way affects the program, so if it annoys you, you don't have to see it anymore.
