5 weeks ago my DH started a total renovation on our kitchen. Everything was torn out except the fridge. I was having to rinse dishes in the tub and then cart them over to my in-laws to wash them. I have alternative ways to cook like a crock pot, an electric skillet and a rice cooker so I could still make dinners but I decided that the dishes alone weighed enough to carry around without the appliances so switched to a raw/living food diet. 1 week ago I finally got my own sink and dishwasher back so I don't have to cart the dishes back and forth but I am sticking to the raw/living food for now because 2 wonderful things started happening. I am a chocoholic. I eat pretty healthy usually (no chips, haven't had a soda in 17 years, I cook from scratch so not much processed stuff and I don't like fast food either) but when there is chocolate around, of most any form, I can't keep from eating large quantities of it. But since switching over to this new diet, my cravings have almost completely vanished and the few times I have eaten chocolate in the last few weeks I haven't really liked it much even though it tasted the way it should. Very bizarre! The other thing that I like about it is that while I wasn't doing any more physical activity than normal, I started losing weight. I was 159 when I started eating this way with about 15-20 lbs to lose give or take to account for muscle which I hope to add as I up my biking some more. I have lost 9 lbs since starting. Right now I am lower than I have been in almost 10 years!! My mom introduced me to this site when I showed her what I eat in a regular day. She punched it all in on her account and told me what she found. This is a great site because I can finally see what parts of my nutrition I need to improve on. I am not limiting myself to a particular number of calories, instead I am monitoring my nutirion to make sure I'm getting enough carbs and protien in every day. This site is such a great tool!
