I quit smoking January 1st and I'm doing great. I don't want to smoke ever again and can't believe I smoked for almost 20 years. I started exercising six days a week on January 7 and started P90X on February 16. I love exercising and when I miss a workout I feel horrible (which doesn't happen often). What I'm frustrated about is the weight GAIN. I was trying to maintain my weight and tone up muscles. However, I have gained weight AND inches. My clothes don't fit right and I just want to scream and give up. According to this site, I'm supposed to eat 1200 calories a day. I record everything including my workouts. Yes, some days I cheat and have candy or something not really healthy. But I haven't changed much of my eating habits because I never really ate that horrible and I've increased my water intake. What in the world am I doing wrong??? I'm so discouraged and thinking maybe I shouldn't have quit smoking (not really but that's how I feel).

If you are doing P90X and eating only 1200 cals without eating your exercise calories back, you are setting yourself up for failure...Your body need fuel for that program...That said, make sure you keep accurate count of what you eat - every little lick and bite - it can add up...
I gained on the scale for at least the first month after starting P90X - all water weight....0 -
I don't know anything about how smoking and quitting would fit in but I do know from my own experience and reading alot on here that 1200 calories is too low, especially if your working out. I got stuck at a plateau for months and after going over what I was eating with my boot camp personal trainer, he said I wasn't eating enough. More protein and less sugar that is what the advice I was given was. I was told to have a protein shake every day to supplement if I wasn't getting enough protein. Try eating more, maybe that will work for you. Good luck on your journey!!0

I quit smoking in July. Sjortly after, i started working out at Curves. I began losing inches but gained almost 10 pounds. Those were the hardest to get off....and finally did in Jan/Feb. Since then, I've hit a bit of a plateau. This week, I am playing around with my cals and workouts to see what I can do. Even though I've hit that wall - I am pushing to keep going because I feel great and love not smoking! So, even though I may have gained some poundage, I can breathe, I don't stink, the money I saved pays for my gym and healthy foods.
The weight loss will happen. Just give your body time to adjust.
Congrats on not smoking!0 -

Yeah, you're not eating enough. Your body is going into starvation mode.0
