I just discovered that you could negatively count calories in MFP. I want to make a recipe but omit the EVOO. I entered the EVOO as -.05 TBS (per serving) and it deducted 60 calories and 7g of fat. That rocks!!!! It will make it so easy to swap ingredients !!!

    Neat!

What she's saying is, if you have a recipe and it calls for Oilve Oil, but you don't add it, you can put an entry into MFP for NEGATIVE the item you're eliminating.

So if the recipe calls for 0.5 tbsp's of EVOO, you can put -0.5 tbsp EVOO into your diary and it will subtract the calories from your diary :)

Thanks LongMom for explaining it for me! I love cheese and this will allow me to easily calculate the difference betweeen whole fat cheese and low fat cheese without having to calculate the whole recipe.

It really takes MFP to a whole new level of cool!
  • Wow! That's awesome. I will definately be doing that from now on. Thanks!

Yep! I use it on special days (Birthday, christmas, etc) to give myself a small "celebration" allowance. If you type in "Holiday Allowance" in the food database, it will give you 300 extra calories for the day. ;) It keeps me honest when i have a "treat" day.
