I just received this email back from El Chico, after I emailed them, asking for nutrition facts. I'm pretty frustrated with this response:

Thank you for contacting us at El Chico Restaurants. We strive to ensure the very best customer experience. The tremendous feedback we receive enables us to be one of the top choices in casual dining.

At this time we have no nutritional information available. We will keep your request on file and forward the information should we complete such a study in the future.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you soon.

I would DEFINITELY write back and say not to look to forward to seeing me because I won't be coming back. I would also ask why in the world they wouldn't have this info readily available in such a health conscience time. That is just ridiculous. This would really frustrate me.

I'm not sure. I'm going to call her after work and see if she's in the mood for something else...this is unacceptable to me and the only thing in MFP is an enchilada (definitely my last pick!) and couldn't find anything online...and even salads - which was the best recommendation from one of my MFPs) can be high and I really can't plan my day around a vague idea. Woman's gonna have to make a decision!!!
  • yeah i know. can you do this for me arielle. since my i cant seem to sent it ever... >.< like it wont work.. but to see if you can ask for the nutrition fact for Taqueria El Rinconceto

I would suggest looking at Calorie King. Not too sure if they will have the specific menu available but you might be able to find healthy alternatives.

I went to Applebee's once, and they told me they did not have nutritional information available, but that it was available online. That doesn't help much when you're already sitting in the restaurant. My theory is if they don't readily have the info available, there is a definite reason that they don't want you to see it.

    Good luck.

That's B.S. They don't have nutrition information on their website, either.

Edit - Calorie King showed 0 search results. Getting a LITTLE tired of this. My mom is going to have to pick somewhere else. I know it's Mother's Day but I can't work out that day and there's no way I can plan my day around an imaginary meal. I'm trying really hard, and I'm not giving this up.

I'm not sure about the laws elsewhere, but I know that in California it is either going to be mandatory or it already is mandatory that if a restaurant chain has more than 20 locations, they have to have nutritional information readily available, easily accessible and plainly visible in each of their stores. Unfortunately, smaller chains and single mom-and-pop type places won't be required to. Anyway, at least a good number of restaurants will be required to have this information out for the public to see.

My husband and I are celebrating our 5-year anniversary today and as a "tradition" we go to a steakhouse. Was Outback when we were in AZ, but now that we live in TX, we fell in love with Texas Roadhouse. Well, in preparation for a visit to their restaraunt, I went to look up nutrional information, just like you. But there isn't any! This is what they have on their website under Contact Us:
"Thank you for contacting us regarding our nutritional information. At this time, we do not offer calorie counts and other nutritional information.

We can assure you that we are cognizant of the demand from guests such as yourself to provide this information, but there are several factors that make this difficult.

Many of the large foodservice companies that offer specific nutritional information can do so because their food is pre-packaged and/or pre-portioned. Since we make our food from scratch, including the bacon bits, croutons, and dressings, it is next to impossible to provide exact nutritional information because of slight variations that depend upon who prepares the food.

We also make our bread from scratch each day and hand-cut our steaks, so again, we do not have the exact information printed when it arrives like some foodservice operators or what you may find in the grocery store.

We have attempted to provide some information in the past, but we pulled back after some guests complained we were not detailed enough. In addition, some enterprising folks tested the food and when it fell outside the guidelines threatened legal action. As such, we stopped providing our special gluten-free menu, for example.

In addition, many states, counties and cities across the nation are attempting to pass legislation providing restaurants with guidelines and rules for displaying nutritional information. As a result, our efforts are on hold until we know what information will be required, the ranges that will be allowed and how that information should be distributed.

Again, let me assure you that we are trying to find a solution so that our guests can make informed decisions. Thanks again for contacting us, and let us know if you have additional questions."
Outback, on the other hand, has an interactive nutritional website that allows you to customize your meals. So I guess we'll be going there instead.

Man, My brain is mush today... I thought you, Arielle, were thinking about going to Applebee's.

http://www.applebees.com/downloads/nutritional_info.html is actually the listing of the Applebee's menu with all nutritional info. just if you want it.

:noway: Well, for anybody that needs it, here it is!!!:drinker:

Someone posted the above link last year.
They have alot of restaurants. Maybe you can look at a different Mexican Restaurant and according to what you want at El CHico's you can Guestimate about how many calories and give yourself some cushion

    Good Luck!
