Counting?

Hey quick question to see if I am figuring this right. We have just upped our walks to 4 miles but they don't have 4 miles at a moderate pace on the exercise counter. I took the 3 miles at a moderate pace and divided by three to see how much a mile would be then I added took and added that number 4 times. So 3 miles at 60 min was 250 calories divided by 3 = 83.3 X's 4 miles = 333. So the only way I could find to record 333 calories was to go to the walking uphill for 44 min = 333. Does this work? It is the amount that I burned even though I didn't walk uphill. My question is there an easier way to do this?? I only get 1200 calories a day so I like to eat a lot of my exercise calories. I don't want to over estimate though.

I don't understand.
The exercise counter on here is based on time walking at a particular speed. (e.g. 20 minutes at 3.5 mph...).
Do you have a smart phone? If so, put a distance measuring app on there (endomondo, mapmyrun, etc) and synch it to mfp. Easy solution.
alternately, work on about 100 cals (give or take a bit depending on your weight) per mile, and you won't be too far off.0 -
I don't have a smart phone I still have a stupid phone...0

I also don't understand. Calorie counting apps don't have set distances, at least none of the ones I've seen. You select the pace and then input the duration of the exercise.
And if you want to input a certain number of calories into MFP you can just do a quick add of the calories.
And if you need to eat an extra 333 calories today but the app won't let you input the extra cals, just go ahead and eat the 333 extra cals. Log them and go in the read or don't long them as your body doesn't really care what the app says anyway.
And 1200 cals per day seems low for someone that only has 15 pounds left to lose.
Are you sure you should be eating that little? I'd set the app so that I was trying to lose .5-1 pound per week if I was in your shoes.0 -
It sounds like you're misreading speed as distance...0

That's exactly how I do it.0 -
Ok, maybe I'm reading your post incorrectly.
I'm fairly sure there is a 4 minute mile in the calculator. I just checked and I have that in my diary from past use. I doubt if they removed it, but if I couldn't find it I'd just log as 3.5. It's not a huge difference.0
