Fats, oils, etc. Please help me out.

I use a tablespoon of organic coconut oil in cooking, a tablespoon of organic flaxseed oil with lignans on salads and vegetables and sometimes, a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil too.

Plus I eat an avocado every day and a handful of almonds or cashews or walnuts.

That's a lot of calories form just fats! But they're supposed to all be good for me for various reasons. It does leave me with not so many calories for food.

Does anybody else eat these fats in the same amounts every day? Are you losing weight? How many calories do you consume in a day and more importantly, am I doing it right by following this protocol?

I think it depends on your individual body chemistry, but I eat about 60% fat, 25% protein and 15% carbohydrate and I'm losing weight just fine.

When using something like coconut oil in cooking, try to see if you're actually eating all the oil. When I fry eggs, I use a LOT of coconut oil but a lot is left over in the pan afterwards, so I just count the fat I actually ate.

I use about two tsps of coconut oil when I make my eggs in the morning. I can't stomach more than that. I follow a primal diet (without the deli, bacon, organ meats part) and so far my weight loss has been steady.

You're right, I think it just depends on individual body chemistry. Thank you for your input.

Some people do well on a low fat diet, but really, the fat you eat doesn't automatically become fat on your body. How's it working for you so far?

My diet isn't low fat. On the contrary. I get my fats from the above mentioned products as well as avocados, nuts and seeds. I just wondered if it was too high in good fats because I like eating other foods too but don't want to go above my daily calories (1400).

I guess I'll just have to try and see what happens.
