Food Group Ratios

My fitness planner tells me that I should be eating 55% carb, 30% fat and 15% protein! I love the graph tool on the phone app to keep track of these proportions but I was thinking how do I know these are the best proportions for weight loss. Can anyone verify these are the correct proportions, I would have thought protein should be higher and fat and carb lower.
