"Cheat day"

I hate it when people seem to expect perfection. Like as if you never will have a day were you eat whatever you want. Now don't get me wrong, if you do this on a daily basis its not going to help a person get healthy but don't we all have those days?
I dont like planning out those days in advance but today I overate. I allowed myself to get too hungry and now I feel like I have gone way past failure. Anybody else have those days and just feel so guilty you feel like quitting?

Of course! I have cheat snacks and go over calories a lot and sometimes to crazy porportions (mostly from heavy drinking) but I always say, tomorrow is a new day! It's only bad to cheat if you decide to never come back from it. Even on my cheat days I still eat healthy foods. Sometimes I go over calories eating all healthy foods. I eat about 5 french fries at work just to not crave it because of the smell. Is that really cheating? No, its moderation and helping myself with discipline and self-control.
Some cheat things I do: A mexican restaurant is bad for me but delicious: Solution: Eat a kids meal!
I want to drink A LOT! because it's fun and It's my senior year. Solution: Drink straight vodka shots, vodka and clubs or just work out that day. Or sometimes I just let it go... there's hundreds of times I "cheat" but if a majority of the time you are making healthy choices and sticking to a LIFESTYLE change instead of a diet, it makes it a whole lot easier.0 -
I used to, but then I changed my thinking. A big part of adapting to a healthier lifestyle is attitude. The first change I made was to not use the term "cheat." It's negative, and I try to avoid that. I'm working towards a vegan diet; I'm not there yet. And that's fine. I indulge from time to time. I am a person who can REALLY enjoy food! Occasionally, I will treat myself, but it's all a process. As time passes, I'm healthier and consuming more plant-based meals. But even when I eat the not-so-healthy stuff, I don't beat myself up over it. I just enjoy it! I don't like stressing over what I'm eating as that has proven to be detrimental for me. Ultimately, it's about choices and gauging how you feel. If you feel you overate today, well, tomorrow's a new day! Don't let the guilt get to you!0

I do not really have those days yet. I already eat what I want with just a few exceptions (no more foods fried in bacon grease for instance). I just eat in smaller quantities now. I never consider eating a baggy of cheetos as cheating because as far as im concerned, as long as I record it, it doesnt matter much. I ate an easter bunny for lunch last week. Basically I have gone back to the way I ate when I was 110lbs, minus the weekly chinese fried wings, mainly because they went up a dollar a bag. Oh yeah, and milk. Im trying not to drink my calories.
I did once slip up and hit 1800 calories, but it didnt effect my weight loss that week.
Ah, I just realized the OP was talking about becoming healthy rather than losing weight. Oh I give up really fast if im forced to eat "healthy" food. Most vegetables make my stomach sick (even the ones I like). And I dislike nearly all fruits because they are too sweet and tart and there is no way to water down a solid fruit. Oh yeah, and most fruits make me sick too, though not as bad as veggies. So I guess, yeah, if I try to eat healthy I do often feel like (and succeed in) quitting as soon as my stomach acts up badly enough.0
