struggling with not eating

There was a time when I used to wait tables and I was on my feet moving around as fast I could for 6-8 hours a night and it was waiting tables at a night club so I was drinking alcohol too. I would hardly ever eat food other than a little salad and the occasional taco cabana by my house. This is so horrible, bear with me. For months and months it was nothing but work and work and hardly ever eating and just drinking all night but I was losing so much weight that I kept having to have my uniform tailored to fit me. I started out as a size 10 and by the time that I quit that job, I was a size 2. I will get back to that size because it was a healthy size but it just wasn't a healthy way of getting there. I'm just finding that I'm struggling with eating now because those days. I'm finding myself not wanting to eat even 1000 cal a day because I want the weight to come off faster. There were days this last week that were only 700 calories and I still did p90x on those days. Ugh, I know it's wrong and I don't want to get into starvation mode either but I just wanted to come here and vent my frustration for a little bit. It's almost hard to get food down anymore. Just a month ago I was eating Burger King and now I won't eat anything unless it's organic and home cooked lol, I'm a mess

Today I got up to 1100 but it's hard to keep it all balanced. It says that I went over in protein and sugar (fresh fruit). I tried my best. I didn't work out today either. I wasn't saying that I feel that I'm in danger of an eating disorder, I was just saying that sometimes I have a hard time keeping my head up and staying positive. I just look back at when I was actually working a job and it was so easy and now that I'm at home, it's so hard even though I'm much healthier now.

Try and eat a larger, healthier breakfast. That will be a great start to the day. Then add a fruit and/or veggie snack in between meals. Prepare your snacks in the morning so they are ready to just grab. Regular yogurts are a healthy way of adding calories too.

I was like this at first. I had a hard time eating 1000 calories. I now eat just over 1400 and the weight comes off just as easy as it did at 1000 calories a day and I feel satisfied, actually, that's not true, I'm losing more now consistently with eating more calories. There are some days I feel hungry so I will eat more.

I have my goals set here to lose 1 pound a week with my calorie deficit and then I lose a second pound by burning calories.

You really do need to eat more. I tried to convince myself that I was happy at 1000 cals but I wasn't. Thankfully, that only lasted about 2 months.

Starving yourself really won't make you drop the weight faster and you will only being doing harm to your body.

If you need any advice, please don't hesitate to ask

Being over in protein is not bad. I eat 120-140g per day. Eat some extra meat to get calories in. If you can't change this around pretty quickly I advise you do get professional help. It does sound like your developing disordered eating.

Thanks Maegmez, I managed to get 551 down on meal 1 so I might be able to hit 1200 today, I'm really going to try. I'll get there eventually. Thanks again for the encouragement.

I'm recovering from an eating disorder(15years) The biggest struggle is consuming quantities of food that, to everyone else may seem "normal" but to me is a lot. I add oil, seeds, and avocado to everything to add calories without the bulk. I also drink two vegan supplement shakes (one in the morning and one in the afternoon when I start to feel hungry). This way I don't feel so full. Also, started drinking half the amount of coffee I drink by adding MORE milk. A little more calories that way:)

I also used to struggle with eating and getting enough calories in a day.
The best advice I was given was to eat a hefty breakfast and also to drink my calories through the form of smoothies.

Just remember that losing weight is NEVER more important than staying healthy. Even when the weight comes off, your metabolism won't be what it used to be and you risk gaining back the weight.
I wrote a blog post about my experience with eating too little so feel free to read it if it interests you.

Stay strong and do what is right for you and your body. Love yourself and don't punish your body by not giving it what it needs (:

I think maybe that my metabolism isn't very high right now or something because I'm sitting at almost 1000 cal and I have one meal left but I've felt soooo full all day long and almost like I was force feeding myself. BUT I just remembered that this happened to me before when I started working out, I wouldn't want to eat in the beginning but after about a month or two when my metabolism sped up then I started to get hungrier.

Oh I also do pack in some cal into my protein shakes by adding in banana, berries and yogurt, so yummy.

add flax oil to your shakes. and don't forget oil on your foods. if you track these calories added, you shouldn't have a problem reaching your calorie intake..

I was just on my way to say congrats for recovering from your eating disorder. Keep your head up and stay strong. Just by looking at what you're writing, you know what you're talking about. As for me, I can't add flax because I have uterine fibroids, and flax is estrenogenic, but I do cook with olive oil, I add in a little butter and I LOVE avocado and could probably add it to anything lol. I'll for sure start eating more of it to help out a little.
