Want to tone up arms but have injured hand - any ideas?

I've been doing regular exercise for the past month or so, and even though I haven't noticed much difference in my size, I have definitely noticed I've gotten stronger and I don't get as short of breath doing simple things like walking to the shops anymore! I still feel like I could definitely do with toning up more (especially when I go to Callanetics classes and they have mirrors EVERYWHERE,. Trust me, I never wanted to see my butt from so many different angles!), especially my arms - HOWEVER I injured my hand a month ago, and now I've got a cast that covers my hand (but not the fingers or my wrist).
Anyways, does anyone know of any exercises I can do to tone up my arms and upper body that I can do with this cast on (and without further injuring my hand)? Triceps dips and pressups are out f the question as I've tried already, and I can't lift weights to the front but to the side seems to be fine.

You could do yoga/pilates style exercises to help tone arms without having to put pressure on your hand. For example warrior pose and waist twists where you keep your arms perpendicular to your body for long periods. This can really help tone shoulders.
Try not to push the hand! Hope it's better for you soon.0 -
Also you could try doing basic free weight style exercises or even the above mentioned yoga/pilates/dance stuff with arm weights
What I mean by arm weights in this instance, are those weighted wrist bands you can get, either filled with something like sand or that you can strap on. You could attatch them above the cast. As in tie them on, therefore allowing you to do arm resistance training without actually putting any stress throught your arm
That is assuming the injury wouldn't be agrivated by this.0 -
Does anyone know whether I could still go rock climbing with my cast on? It covers my thumb and my palm, but not my other fingers. My boyfriend and some of our friends are going on Friday afternoon and I really want to go...not been in months!0

If you are into exercising at home try the arm section of Tracey Andersons Mat Workout. The first part doesn't use any weights but it is really good for toning - I couldn't believe the results and have recommended it to a lot of people, including my mum who wants to tone her arms ready for my wedding next year in Zante (bless her!).
The wrist weights was a really good idea too! I have been thinking about getting some of these for when I go running!
