Is 108 considered high blood sugar?

For about a year now my blood sugar has hovered around 108-110 with fasting. My doctor told me this is considered to be a pre diabetic level. It doesn't run in my family so I don't have anything to compare it to. I have heard that 70-100 is normal, and everything else is too high. My BMI is about 37, so I have been told to lose weight to lower blood sugar. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Julie

My fasting runs 102-107 but my 3 month average test showed 266 so my doctor put me on Metformin 500mg and told me to use an online diary since a written food journal wasn't working for me. I just found this site 3 days ago. Hopefully for my check up in 3 months, I can lose enough weight to get off the medicine.
Has your doctor done the 3 month test? It will give you a more accurate result, it's just a finger stick in the office.0 -
