I started 30DS Monday and have done it for 6 days, I walked/jogged 1.5-2 miles Wed, Thurs, and Fri. Today, tonight specifically, my shins have been a bit achy. What causes this? What can I do to help prevent this from happening?

Shin splints. Many things can cause this. Wrong shoes, over running if you're not use to running, bad form, too hard of a surface. many more. Ice them and rest them. Start slower you don't need to run 3 days in a row mix it up with other cardio.

It was mostly walking. But I know where you are coming from. I am flat footed too so maybe the shoes I have arent that great. Also, what other kinds of cardio do you suggest?

The pain is likely shin splints resultant of bad shoes. Go to a running shoe store and ask them to evaluate your stride and help you pick the best shoe for you. I had the same issue and once I got the shoes after an evaluation I have no more issues. ALso, let the pain pass before you work too hard or it can get considerably worse.

Personally I think the best cardio would be swimming. I also enjoy bike riding, those two things seem to be easier on the body and joints.

If you go to a proper running shop, they should be able to fit you for a proper pair of shoes that works with the kind of feet you have. These would be the best investment you can have for running and working out. I know new balance shops actually do the fitting pretty well.

If you are a gym goer, have you tried rowing? That is AMAZING for blasting your heart rate. All the best :)
