Getting Resistance in my workout

I hate doing resistance training….however I know my body needs it to define it more and aid in the weight loss as well.

But once I finish my workout…I have no energy or mood to do my strength training

So I decided to try and incorporate my strength training within my 6 miles jog/power walk routine, which usually takes me 90 minutes

So I decided at each ½ mile or 1 mile marker, I will stop and do some form of resistance type workout.

Today was a test run, to see how I felt about it…and I actually loved doing it this way

I plan to do the resistance routine in my workout every Monday, Wednesday and Friday so I can give myself some rest days and then just do my regular workout on the rest days

So this is how I did it today…which I wont do it again until Monday, because I am sure I will be sore tomorrow and I need the rest to start the week a new on Monday

So this was what I did:

1st Stop
30 squats and then 10 additional squats with leg raises on each side

2nd stop---This is a move from insanity….The Shoulder Burners in Plie….Go into a low squat with feet open

Pulse arm slowly up and down….I did 100
I then did arms front and back in same position.......I did 20
I then carried arms overhead (fingertips touching) and back to side…..I did 20
I then circled arms backwards…..I did 20 of these
I then circled forward……I did 20 of these

3rd stop…..30 pushups…finger tips facing front….I use a fence in front of this church I pass and do the pushups off of that

4th stop…..100 waist twists….I was in a low squat and twisted waist from left to right

5th stop……100 oblique knee lifts (50 on each side)

6th stop…….40 lunges (each side getting 20)

7th stop…..30 pushups…fingers tips facing inward……Used the same fence, this one I do on my way back home.....I am thinking these work a different muscles than the first set of pushups

And it only added an additional 15 minutes to my workout

Not a lot of resistance but enough to make me feel better about getting some in..... will definitely work on increasing the numbers as time goes by

I know I would get better results with weights...maybe one day I will try walking with a couple 2 pounders or something, will see...but for now will do it this way

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Thanks All...have a good day!!!!

that's a good idea. And should work well for you. Just be aware to change up the types of resistance you do as you become more used to them.
