If i go to the gym and burn 500 calories, then eat 1200 calories a day for 6 days a week is that okay? I will eat my net calories up too 1200, and i will take a rest day one day a week. does this sound like a good plan and will it be effective? any advice?
Oh I donno, well you? Let's ask Taso:Not necessarily, as starvation mode is a overused/abused terms. But there is a high probability that it will hinder your long term success.

Ignore the TDEE hype - just do it. You'll lose weight. Promise.

I edited that, and made the update for that version.

You will die....ok maybe not really....but this is much better for you and it is a plan you can maintain after your goal weight is reached

I may get shot for saying this.... But I eat under 1000 cals most days and I walk to burn about 350-400 and I don't eat them back. I have been doing it since jan ( the walking only for about a month though) so most days I only net under 700-800 a day. I never feel hungry, I am still losing weight, my skin cleared up and I have boatloads of energy.
I personally don't feel I need more calories than that.... If I am hungry, I eat... The rare time I actually consume 1200 I don't freak about it. I figure my body will tell me if its hungry and needs fuel, what I eat is healthy. I am not recommending this for everyone by any means.... But I spent too many years telling my body it needed to eat, even when I wasn't hungry.. That's what led me to 221 lbs, now for a change I listen to my body and let IT tell me when to feed it, I just control what I feed it now, rather than forcing it to eat the garbage I once called food.
Much luck to you!0 -
I'm just shy of 5'1" and I'm currently 107.6. My BMR is 1200 (lucky me). While I have a number in my head (104), I'm really going for how I look. I'm more toned now than I have been of late. It is hard when you're smaller b/c your numbers are lower. I eat back enough of my exercise calories to make sure that I net my BMR. It's hard some days, but I aim to do it. I don't want to run into issues when I'm doing maintenance. I see you're majoring in a related field.....what do the "text books" talk about?
what I am afraid of is since I was eating a smaller amount of calories is that I ruined my metabolism. I am majoring in a related field, I am studying to be a gym teacher for k-5. To be honest I haven't taken a course yet involving any type of health or exercise. I am getting maths and electives done right now. I am only in my second semester.
I think that's the point of the reset (eating at tdee for a period of time). You do that to get your body working efficiently. You might go up temporarily, but then you cut back down til you reach your goal. The. Back up to tdee to maintain. You look very trim/slender in your picture (in the workout clothes). Don't be wedded to a number on a scale.0 -

And how is your weight loss going?
My next weigh in is Friday, but its worked for me in the past.
Is it sustainable long term to do this - no. But for the short term it works for me.0 -

I am looking for long term though I've done the whole, eating less calories then I am suppose to thing. It just made me depressed and very hard on myself
But if it works for you, good for you0 -
