calorie deficit

so i am confused. I am 18. if i consume 1500 calories a day does that mean i am in a deficit? as i should be doing 2500? so with exercise i will be in a massive deficit?

It depends on how much you weigh and how tall you are..then MFP gives you the amount of Calories you need to consume to maintain and calories you need to loose weight based on what you put for your weight loss goal ( 1lb a week, 2lb a week ect) If you exercise that day it adds calories back to your daily total. You may want to check out a calorie deficit calculator like http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php. It takes into account your age, height, weight and activity level. It will help you learn what you need on a daily basis. If you are trying to lose weight, then you would take a deficit of this (15 - 30%). If you exercise a lot, then you would want to eat additional calories. Remember food is fuel and your body needs fuel.
