Banana vs. 3 mini Mr. Goodbars

What to do?? They are the same # of calories... 120 either way. I have the banana in front of me. There is an ENTIRE BAG of those wretched candies on the staff kitchen table at work. I love them so much. If I could be Mrs. Goodbar, I would be.
Is there really anything wrong with making the trade? Same calories...

the banana will make you feel better! better calories! look at the difference in FAT content, sodium, sugar, etc....! there is a difference even if the calories are the same amount!0

the banana will hold you over longer! you will crash and burn with the chocolate :explode:0

I agree, the banana!!!0

Not to mention, there is only one bananna, and a whole bag of chocolate. Can you really stop with 3? I know I can't. lol I love those things.0

OMG this happens to me ALL the time!!! I have to think about what my body would do if my mind weren't in charge. Your body DEFINITELY wants the nutrients and the good calories that come with the banana. If your body made the decision it would never "waste" your 120 calories on chocolate when it could have something nutritious. (Not to say you can't have a treat every now and then), but make sure you do what's best for your body most of the time.0

Do you ever just feel ambushed at work? I work in a library, and it's like bad food choices heaven. Cake in the fridge, candy on the table - each and every time I come in to work it's something different, and usually, something that you can easily just grab a handful of, and before you know it, you just ate 500 calories worth of peanut m&ms! Coworkers pushing their cakes and brownies on you like drug dealers (or like grandma - "go on, darling! you're a stick! have a piece of cake!"
UGH!!! Can I just say, though, with absolute honesty, that I am the ONLY person who works here who is NOT overweight, and most of my coworkers are morbidly obese (not counting the high school students). It's no wonder! There is freakin junk food EVERYWHERE!
I'm currently reading "The End of Overeating" and it's making me really sensitive to this...0 -
think of all the benefits a banana can do for you: replenish you with vitamins such as potassium, provide slight hydration, give you fiber to stay full, give you complex carbs that will break down slowly.. a.k.a. no energy crash. and you even get some good ol' sugar!!
now think about the candy: it may be giving you sugar, but in the wrong way. simple sugar= energy crash. saturated fat. sodium. no vitamins. no fiber. makes you feel blaaaahh :laugh:0 -
You are all right, and I ate the banana. I'm kind of upset about how much I want those Mr. Goodbars. I gave up smoking a few years back, and it feels like that... I just want one so bad, and there's that feeling like I KNOW I'm going to give in. I have enough calories left for the day (I have tons - like more than 550), but it's the principle of not giving in to cravings, because that's purely what this is. ARGH!!!0

But sometimes what I really want is chocolate and if I don't have it I will eat hundreds of calories in other foods until I eat what I really wanted. Sometimes it's better to eat 120 instead of 500 cal trying to satisfy a craving with something you don't want. There's room for both points of view. A banana is definitely healthier0

I agree, and I go so far as to always budget for a big bowl of ice cream every night and that's actually why I have so many calories saved for tonight. I know it's not good for me, but it's my way of staying on course, and keep being honest with every calorie. I love ice cream so much that I exercise every day just to dedicate those calories to it, and I literally will think about how much I love ice cream while I exercise (yes, this is a sad truth). But I feel like I want to have more control over those cravings, and not just grab the Mr. Goodbars. I planned to have the banana, which is why I brought it to work, and by gosh - I can wait an hour to get my chocolate fix in my ice cream, can't I?0 -
This doesn't help you today since the struggle was yesterday, but I was going to suggest that if you had a relatively empty stomach, the chocolate with the peanuts would be better than the banana because the banana has so many carbs that on an empty stomach you should always pair it with protein like nuts or cheese. Anyway, FYI for the future.0

Well I hate bananas so I would def. go for the goodbar.. that being said the banana has same great health benefits that the goodbars do not. It probably isn't going to spike your blood sugar as much and you wont get hungry as fast after eating. So if you like bananas... it is the better choice!0

This concept is a really good point. Eat the Goodbars, but be sure to not let them send you on a spiral....0 -
the banana! it will be more satisfying for the number of calories PLUS will 3 mini goodbars keep you feeling satisified?0
