Hunger and Exercise

I have a question on exercise and hunger. Today I did some cardio for about 40 minutes (running and elliptical). While I was exercising I was getting hungry, but once I stopped my hunger completely diminished. I forced myself to get lunch because I hadn't eaten for 5+ hours and I knew I should put something back in my system. Does this happen to other people? I also did notice though that today for breakfast I had cereal and a hardboiled egg vs cereal and fruit which is what I normally have before exercise in which generally makes me hungry afterwards. Could this have impacted it? Any thoughts related to hunger and exercise. I know some people say they are starving after exercise, others not so much.
