How to ensure losing BF not LBM?

I cut my calories today after 6 weeks of no loss. Went from 1900 to around 16-1700. I do Insanity 5 times a week and lift upper body weights 2 days a week. I want to get leaner, but make sure that I maintain the muscle I have. How do I make sure that I am losing BF and not LBM? What should I be looking for?

High protein intake should take care of most of those concerns, however I am no expert.0

Keep your deficit fairly low. Lift heavy 3-4 days per week, eat sufficient protein (.75-1g per lb of body weight, more if you're pretty lean, less if you have more to lose).0
