Which heart monitor/app to use

Okay, I want to get a heart rate monitor and an app on my Samsung Galaxy S3 to better track my calories burned. I think I am overestimating and it is driving me crazy!

So what is everyone using? I want something that is easy to use and I can wear the monitor comfortably. I have seen a lot about the fitbit but can't tell if it monitors your heart rate as well.

Any Polar HR monitor will help you keep better track of your calorie burn.
Typically, the more an HRM costs, the more features it has. If you spend a little time looking online, you will be able to determine what kind of features are available. I won't personally spend the money on purchasing an HRM with GPS built in because I'll just carry my phone and use MapMyRun (app). I enter the calorie burned values from my HRM and use the distance on MapMyRun.
My son and wife like the EndoMondo app because it ties in to MyFitnessPal, though both have said EndoMondo's calorie count can be off.
    Hope that helps a little.

I have an older Android and wanted to use BT functionality. I use a Zephyr. Plays well with Runtastic pro and Endomondo.

I found that I over-estimated some things, under-estimated others and some were right on the money.

Thanks! This gives me a starting point. When I looked online there are so many! And I want to make sure what I use will integrate with MFP. No point in maintaining multiple sites.
