My heart rate monitor tells me that my ideal range is between 117 and 153. I am doing JMBR and some of the exercises put me well over that, into the 165 range. My question is if its that high and it takes awhile to get back down, do I just stop what it is I'm doing till it comes back within range? I want to get the most out of my workouts and I'm afraid of compromising my burn if I stay out of range too long. I'm just really confused!

If you're out of shape, your heart rate's going to be higher than recommended until you condition yourself. Just ignore it and do what you feel you can do - you want a good workout. If you're worried about the accuracy of calories reported, I usually take 25% off what mine says if my HR stays consistently above the max recommendation.0
