Last week I wasn't feeling quite right. I am not sure if I was fighting some bug, lack of sleep (my husband has been keeping me awake with his bad back) or not enough calories. I had no energy, felt icky and achey and NO motivation to do anything. Getting myself to the gym was such a chore and I felt SO unproductive while I was there. I managed to get through minimally and nothing else. I even had a mid week rest day.
I have bee contemplating upping my calories from 1200 (for the past two weeks) and I jumped in with both feet and upped my calories to 1470, and have been eating that much for the past five or six days. Not so hungry all the time now.
I do a body compositon analysis down at the nutrition club in town every couple weeks. They have one of those Iron Man Tanita scales they use. Here are my stats for my last few check ins:
12/04/2012 weight 177.0, BF% 40.4, body water % 44.2, muscle mass 100.2, BMR 1465, bone mass 5.2.
03/25/2013 weight 170.4, BF% 31.4, body water % 49.7, muscle mass 111.0, BMR 1574, bone mass 5.8.
04/08/2013 weight 167.2, BF% 31.6, body water % 49.3, muscle mass 108.6, BMR 1539, bone mass 5.6
If my calculations are right, although I lost 3.2 pounds, only .6 of that weight was fat. The other 2.4 pounds were muscle mass?
One of the coaches at the club said I need to eat more protein (agreed) and lower my calories back down to 1200 (disagreed).
If I have been paying attention to what have been reading, I need to do a couple things. First I need to continue to eat at least 1470 I changed to last week. Second, eat more lean protein. Third, stuff a sock in my husband's mouth at night, or find a new room to sleep in.
My diary is open for anyone interested in looking. I would really appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
Linda
