Problems with protein supplements

Hi, I've been experimenting with different protein bars / shakes but they all feel like a lump of lead in my digestive track (before they reach my stomach). Taste ok, just feel really horrible, sort of painful feeling. Lasts about 30 mins, by which time it reaches my stomach I guess. I tried flushing it down with water but that hasn't helped.

Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions for overcoming it?

Thanks
Wahelga

You've tried the consume with water bit...Umm...

Do protein shakes instead? Try a different brand? eat them in smaller quantities (i.e. half the bar at a time)

    Greetings Helga,

I re-evaluated the role of protein formula in my diet and I discontinued with it. An excellent healthy diet combined with regular intense exercise I think is the bedrock of a sustainable lifestyle change that will support weight loss.
    kind regards,

    Ben

Can you just eat real food that is high in protein instead of supplementing your diet? A single serving of Fage Greek yogurt has 18 grams of protein, a small chicken breast has 30 grams, a cup of lentils has 18 grams, etc. I know not everyone can meet their protein goals eating real food but if you are having trouble with supplements, it may be worth planning your meals.

    Thanks for the replies

The shakes were the worst :-( and I'm only eating half a bar / half the bites at a time. Will keep working through the range in the hope I find one that suits but otherwise I guess I'm just not meant to eat them.

I eat enough protein at the moment but am going to start trying to build new muscles so thought it might help that process
