sooo sore!

Ive never really worked out before unless you count some yoga occasionally and I started the 30 day shred yesterday.. woke up this morning sooo sore! my legs hurt so bad to bend!!
So I'm wondering should I skip day 2 and take a recovery day or should I attempt to get through it and hope I dont feel worse tomorrow??

Go thru the motions, the first few day you will be really sore after that your body should be getting conditioned to it. Just take it slow and easy.

You'll feel 1000x better after todays exercise, unless you are injured (not sore) then continue through it.

Hang in there...I have been through 30 DS and actually just started it again this a.m. It does get better after day 5 or 6 but man oh man the first 3 or 4 days everything hurt! Stairs were killer! As long as you're not injured then keep it up. When I did it through the first time I did 2 rest days a week and took 6 weeks to get through it and still had great results! (My rest days were 3 days of 30DS and 1 rest day throughout the work out)

    This time I am doing:
    Day 1: 30DS + 1 1/2 miles on TM
    Day2: 2 - 3miles
    Day 3: 30DS + 1 1/2
    Day 4: 2 miles
    Day 5: 30DS + 1 1/2 miles
    Day 6: 3 - 4 miles
    Day 7: rest

Last time I did walk for about 20 minutes after each 30DS work out but not until L2...I found that the walking helped keep my muscles looser and not quite as sore.

    lol

So soreness is helpful because it means you have worked (I like it because it helps me understand WHAT I've worked). However over time it will go away or lessen, and you DO NOT need to feel sore to have worked the right parts and hard enough. Just keep that in mind.

Soreness is usually experienced when you start something new or work a muscle in a different way. I would be careful not to over do it since you're basically brand new to exercise and hurting too bad will hinder you from giving it your all. I still have this problem with calf raises actually, crazy lactic buildup keeping me from walking right for days.

*** Try taking a rest day. 30 Day Shred is a good routine I guess (not that I know really) but 30 days straight of working out after never really doing it sounds like hitting the ground sprinting when you should be easing into it so that you don't hurt yourself (nevermind the soreness).

thanks guys! I think I'm gonna take it easy today..maybe just walk to try and loosen up my legs and do some yoga. I don't wanna injure myself so early in the game!

I did 30DS for the first time about 3 years ago when I first started exercising after years of not doing much at all. I was so sore after the first few days, but kept with it. I suggest just lighten the intensity, don't use any weights, don't squat as low, etc. It will get better (until you start something new again, I thought I was in good shape until i started P90x and got more sore than I ever was before!) So hang in there, but if something in particular hurts too much then lay off because you may have hurt yourself.

The workouts I do (functional fitness classes at a gym - kettlebells, trx, medicine balls, sand bags, etc) sometimes get me very sore. The best remedy is a 'cardio' workout - either running or a cardio class that focuses on lots of movement and not much resistance. My butt was super sore from the leg workout Saturday. Did cardio yesterday and I feel like a million bucks. Get moving! And be sure to stretch not only right after the workout but again before bed. A rest day will not kill you (and are good for you) just don't make a habit of it ;-)

listen to your body, you do not want to get sidelined with an injury. I love my rest days!
