An Oribital is someone that is your "friend" that you keep around incase of a break up so they can soften the blow. For example a man or woman that is interested in you intimately but you are dating someone else, you know that he or she is interested in you but you continue to hold onto that person incase something backfires in a relationship.

    Exactly, The man or woman you rebound with knowing that person wants you but your intention is only to soften the blow of your recent break up. An Orbital!!
