kids leaving for good!

Today I and my wife put my son and his fiance on a plane to Australia. He will be managing a wild life park on an island in the great barrier reef. While I and my wife are very excited for him we are also sad that we won't be seeing them for at least 6 months and then probably a year. Our other daughter is away at college and we have been empty nesters for 3 years but this is an emptiness that we haven't experienced before.Anyone else have any similar experiences??!!

We have been empty nesters for almost 4 years now and are loving every minute of it!
Since the kids have "flown the coop" we have taken up bee keeping, are keeping hens (for the eggs), started running and now travel around for fun and for races! These are things we never could have done with them still at home.
We are spending the time enjoying each other! It is awesome!
Someday, a grandchild or two would be nice but they need to meet Mr. or Ms. Right. So far, it looks rather dismal on that front.
Hang in there! This empty nest thing is great!0
