Past few days my weight has been up about 5 pounds though I have not deterred from my diet, is it possible that increased temperature could be making me retain water? Is there anything to help?

Sounds like water weight to me...how is your sodium intake...hot temps def have an effect on retaining water...time of the month???0

I don't know about heat being the reason, but make sure your water intake is high enough. Only piece of advice I got for ya.0

It could be hormones or salt intake. You can't possibly have gained 5 lbs in a few days. You'd have to eat 17,500 calories to do that. Drink lots of water and weigh again in a week or so.0

A general response since I have not looked at your diary....chill on salt ...salt hides in everything ...drink more water ...I know that may sound weird but the more water u drink the less your body will hold.0

It could be lots of things. Next week you might see your weight drop even more.
Be patient. And try to look at your "range" over time, rather than one number today.
I find that my weight is all over the place when I get close to my TOM.0 -
when do you weight yourself? time of day? cloths on/off? on you on your period? had a heavy lunch? increase in strength training? Lots can affect scale weight. Just weighting yourself at different times during the day can give different numbers.0

drink lots of water, stick to a deficit, watch your sodium, workout, and don't weigh yourself but once a week.0 -
Water can definitely be the reason. You're actually more likely to get dehydrated by being too cold than being too hot. Ever notice that when it's cold outside you need to urinate more? That's the issue. Your body doesn't think it needs as much water because it's not sweating, so it expels more than it needs to. It holds on to water when it gets warm.
Your weight also fluctuates during the day. Are you weighing yourself at the same time of day each time you weigh in? Has your sleeping or eating schedule changed?
My main bet is on water retention, though. Weirdly, the best thing to do in this case is to drink more water.0 -
I retain fluid like crazy when the weather warms up, even though I take blood pressure meds with a diuretic. I haven't peed in a few hours, even though I've had at least 80 ounces of water so far today.0

I am sure it's different for everyone, but warmer temperatures always cause my feet and hands to swell. I don't know why, but it always has. I use to have to take diuretics during the summer.0

"It is absolutely possible, in fact, it is likely, especially at the beginning of a heat wave. While it is true that your body does increase the amount of sweat secreted to try and cool your body when it is hot, there is also a hormonal reaction that is triggered to retain water by sending more water back into the blood stream when your blood meets your kidney for filtration. Increasing your water intake will help to stop the feedback loop responsible for telling your kidneys to send back the water. Consuming fluids with electrolytes (salt) will also help....despite what people tend to think "More salt = more water retention". More salt will lead to water retention, but the mechanism in matters where the body is sweating but also trying to hold on to as much water as possible, the salt helps establish an equilibrium so that water output can return to normal.
If you've heard before that after a period of starvation the body hoards calories even if the person is eating very little, then you can think of this phenomena in the same manner. Whenever equilibrium is thrown off homeostatic maintenance mechanisms kick into action (like those hormonal cascades responsible for calorie hoarding and decreased water output).
If I were to offer a suggestion, it would be to consume some sports drinks, like Powerade or Gatorade. If you are concerned about the sugar content you can either purchase forms of these types of drinks that have lowered or no sugar (which means they have artificial sweetners in them) or dilute the contents of bottle with water and sip it throughout the day. This is somewhat akin to an IV drip, which creates a stable inflow of solutes and water and consequently, leads to a stable and steady outflow of solutes and water
I see you are female, so you might also consider what point you may be at in your menstrual cycle. Some women also put on temporary weight during their ovulation period, which is roughly a point between your periods.
So in short, consider trying to stabilize your electrolytes and your urine output should become much more diluted (more water output), which should halt your body from 'hoarding' water, so to speak.
