Influenza & Getting Back On Track

So yesterday I went to the Doctor and discovered the "cold" I've been battling was actually the Flu. With a fever and sore throat being my main symptoms I didn't think it was that bad, well, Dr.'s orders I rested most of the day and today I am feeling back at like 80%. I've read some different views on the topic around on line but what do you guys do when you get sick?

Should I go ahead and do my exercise today (I really want to! I think I can pull off half an hour) or should I continue to wait until I feel 100% better? I'm not even running a fever as of now. Just trying to get myself back on the wagon.

No, I would wait until you have had a few days of 100%. If you put in a workout you may make matter worse and will take you out for much longer then if you just wait a couple of days.

I would stick to something low-to-no impact if you just want to keep your body moving, and keep the habit of exercise as you get better. I short walk and an extended stretching session should keep your brain in the workout zone while giving your body the rest it needs.

If there is no fever and no respiratory symptoms than a mild to moderate, low-impact cardiovascular-oriented activity for a shorter period of time than usual should be fine, but pay attention to your body and what its telling you. If it says quit. quit.

If you need to go to a gym or other place where there are multiple people to do this exercise, refrain. You may still be contagious.

Be sure to increase fluids and nourishment if you do exercise. You not only need to replace the materials you lost exercising, but your body is still trying to repair your tissues from the infection.

    Feel better soon.
