foot stress from workout on Gazelle/eliptical

I have had problems if I try to do lunges barefoot (so I don't) but now I'm using my gazelle to get back into working out after pneumonia (and a brief fall off the wagon). And I feel the foot strain coming on again after one use use even. Is my form wrong or does anyone have suggestions on how to combat this? It's right behind the balls of my feet just before the arch.

Ideas appreciated.

    Sounds like plantar fasciitis.

If it's really painful, i'd talk to a doctor. There is no way of knowing what exactly is wrong over the internet.

No... I don't think it's that (THANK HEAVENS!) - but I strain those muscles/tendons in there and just wonder what about my technique might be able to be corrected. Tough to give suggestions when people can't see what I'm doing.

Feeling OK this morning but won't work out on the Gazelle again for a few days.
