Havent tried it tbh .. but have read that there is a lack of research into its long term effects.
The U.S. Food and Drug Department actually warn against the use of sea kelp tablets for weight loss .. even though it appears to have become a bit of a fad over here in the UK.

You lose weight from a calorie deficit.
If you're eating it for taste, i.e. nori, wakame, etc. it's actually quite good, but someone thought to put it in pill form and sell it to unsuspecting types as weight loss snake oil? lol0 -
hmmmm just been told its good for weight loss so i just wanted to see if anyone else had tried it x x0

I don't eat the red kind, and I have no idea if it's even edible because I've never eaten it. The green kind makes a great broth for soup, like miso soup. But sea kelp, konbu, isn't the tastiest stuff if you try to eat it by itself. It's kind of fibrous and hard to chew.0

The only reliable weight loss formula is increased movement and decreased intake. Everything else is someone trying to sell you something.

Kelp has high amounts of iodine that can help with thyroid issues like Hypothyroidism.0

while you're right, you can do more with seaweed than just sushi!
it's some seriously good stuff for you - but that doesn't mean it helps with weight loss any more than anything else.0 -

I deleted all that unnecessary stuff, since I'm pretty sure that's the only time you'll feel you can say I'm right. :bigsmile:0 -

nah, i think we all agree on 80% of this stuff, the rest is just the fine tuning in which we all disagree.0 -
I eat sea kelp often and love it, but I don't think it has any special weight loss properties, other than it's low cal and filling.0
