Is there a such thing as too much cardio?

I've heard some rumblings that doing to much cardio is counterproductive and is not needed.... For instance one does an hour of cardio / strength and turns around and do an aerobics class (i.e. Zumba) the class doesn't do anything for the body. Your thoughts?

My trainer tells me that as long as cardio stays within 30 - 45 minutes on strength training day, you'll be ok.
My workouts Tues - Thurs consist of 45 minutes of strength and 35 minutes of cardio.0
