Would it help?

I do 2 miles on the treadmill every day. Either the weight loss setting or intervals, I try to alternate. I was wondering if I added ankle and wrist weights if it would help? Thinking of getting some weights too but not aure yet.
Thanks

Probably... but I'm not a fan of combining weights and the treadmill. I like to keep them separate. Have you tried increasing your incline?0

I've always heard not to walk with leg weights. You don't want to build your leg muscles, just tone them, not to mention it could injure you or strain something. Keep doing your intervals, increasing your hill work, and even pick up some light jogging.
Good article on Livestrong. http://www.livestrong.com/article/422370-is-walking-with-ankle-weights-good-or-bad/0 -
I've only heard bad things about walking with ankle weights. Maybe a backpack with some weight in it? What is it you're hoping to achieve - a bigger calorie burn? Or working some particular muscles?0

Ankle weights are only for strength training while standing still. It's quite dangerous to walk with them. They throw off you balance and your ability to stabilize yourself if you stumble. Light handweights (3 pounds) could boost your calorie burn IF you actually make sure to swing your arms while you hold them. But it won't make a huge difference, you might be better off just really exaggerating your arm movements without weights.
Having said that, I do like to use 3 pound weights while I do Walk Away The Pounds videos. And once in a while, I'll carry those weights with me when I go for a walk in the neighborhood. But it's more of a hassle than a help, really.0 -
Thank you everyone. I want to tone more and maybe build a little more muscle.0
