Train Smart! by Pete Sisco - Anyone read it and use it??

So I have been reading the Diet Recovery 2 book by Matt Stone which discusses the concept of refeeding to get your metabolism on track again. One of the exercises prescribed in this book was Static Contraction Training and the book Train Smart! by Pete Sisco. The concept seems too good to be true and I was wondering if anyone else read this book and did the routines. Results?
I will admit I am a runner by nature and I am a novice in weight training. I've just always done it so I don't look like a typical distance runner. I am not worried about my times. I mainly compete in obstacle races so upper body strength is a must.
