For the past month, everytime I run even a half mile, my legs tighten up. If I don't rest, it gets painful and my toes tingle. I don't know what els to try!!! I've changed my diet (increased potassium, Ca+)(lowered salt and caffiene) and increased my streatching. I ran in my new $120.00 Brooks Ghost 5 this morning and I could tell the cushoning was better, BUT MY CALFS ARE STILL THIGHTNING UP:((( I don't know what to try next:( I really want to do well at the Autism 5k but it's not lookin good!
ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRICIATED!!!!

i'd actually go back to the store where you got the shoes & ask them to watch you run (i know, sounds weird, but if you got them from a specialty shop, it's not all that odd)... could be that you had a strange accommodation for your old shoes in your gait, and it'll just take a little while to get back to normal...
you say you need to rest - have you tried doing a walk/jog combination if your calves tighten up? i've found that walking a bit can help me...
good luck!0 -

Are you stretching properly? That's all I can come up with maybe others have suggestions.
I do run and have not had that problem...shin splints yes, but proper stretching and running form helped with those so maybe that can help with your leg cramps.0
