I think I figured out where my weight gain really started

So I have been doing some soul searching since I started MFP and I think I know what triggered my weight gain. I have never been small always had curves but I got down to a size 11 after ending a terrible marriage of 7 years. I was happy and feeling the most confident I had ever felt. I met my current husband 2 years after the divorce and fell so deeply in love. I continued to stay healthy and even dropped to my lowest weight of 165. So fast forward 9 years and here I am. I am the happiest I have ever been in my life except I have gained 45 pounds....I started my current job (sitting at a desk) 4 years ago. Since then I grew lazy and unmotivated. My workplace is toxic and I have been taking that home with me and not fighting for my health. I sit in a chair all day and even just that has changed my body. I know now what I need to do and I am excited in my journey to get back to the best me I can be
Just wondering if others have noticed that having a desk job contributed to your weight gain and how did you overcome it?

Mines was getting a car, I use to walk or cycle everywhere till passing my test. I think you have helped me realise when my trigger started. :0)0

Desk jobs are horrible for metabolism. I just switched to a desk job about 6 months ago, automatically gained 5 lbs. I try not to sit all day, I get up every 45-60 min. Some days I try not to sit much at all, but I am always needed at my desk. I really want to have an exercise ball "chair" ( at a past desk job I used one) but I haven't worked up the nerve to ask here yet, this job has more customers in and out then did the other one. A desk job will help pack on the lbs!0

I even feel like my shape has changed. I am going to try and move around more but it's a small office and I am at the front desk.0

Yep...sitting at a desk doesn't help one bit! My weight gain however was do to a few things; lack of trying, being comfortable in my surroundings, but mostly the loss of my daughter. Before she died I had started shedding pounds and we actually were the same size! After she died food became my comfort and my friend. It wasn't until 2 years ago I truly saw myself the way others did...what a shock. I started my weight loss journey and healthy eating/living from then on....so I am now 51.6 pounds lighter and feel great!!0
