The SUGAR demons

Hey -

After logging in for slightly over a month now, I'm noticing that i'm almost daily going over my recommended sugar intake. I am trying to keep things natural but am surprised that Granny Smith apples have 17 grams of sugar, and that a lot of yogurts are also really high in sugar. Does the body knows the difference between sugar from fruit or from processed foods? It's almost impossible for me to stay below the recommended amount since i have a sweet tooth and the way I've been satisfying it is through fruit.

Any insight is welcome.

  • Personally I never count fruit (but do pay attention to sugar in yogurts/protein supplements). I found that if I try to concentrate on too many "perfect" macros that it drives me nuts, limits my food options WAY too much and is just exhausting. I'm trying to find a new way to live - not diet and fruit is an important part of that.

As far as the differences in the sugars or any other dietary related questions - www.livestrong.com is a fantastic source of information :) hope this helps
