My progress so far

I've been holding off on posting any progress pictures as I wanted to be closer to my goal, but then I thought to myself "screw it, let's post it!"

I started my journey on July 4th 2012 at 275lbs. At first I was just doing SL5x5 and not really much else. I was still eating the same crap, and didn't make any other changes beyond lifting. This worked for me in the past so I thought it'd work now. What I failed to remember is that when it worked for me in the past was when I was in college working as a cook, and a bouncer at a bar as opposed to a desk job.

It was mid-to-late July when I had this realization, and that's when I started using MFP as a real resource to reaching my goal. I kept doing SL5x5 but also started walking (couldn't jog). Sometime between Sept and Dec, can't remember exactly when right now, I started to get more into walking/jogging, but I was having major issues because of shin splints and my knee. A buddy recommended going to a running store and getting proper shoes. I did this, rested for a week to let the splints heal, and then started C25K in earnest. The shoes were a life saver, and allowed me to realize how much I enjoyed jogging.

C25K has been a struggle for me since I had been lethargic for the past five years, but I kept pushing and repeating weeks until I could finish all three days in a single week. I'm still not finished with the program, but I'm fine with that as I'm still making awesome progress (ran my first 5k on 04/06/13). I have fallen in love with jogging, lifting is awesome, and I'm stoked about the progress I've made. In the nine months I've been on here I've dropped 35lbs and am sitting at 240 right now. I'm more motivated than ever, and plan to keep losing and getting fit.

The left picture is at around 260lbs when I was in France for a business trip. The right picture (is blurry, sorry) is from today at 240lbs.
