Cop Out or Not????

Ok, so I have been throwing around the idea of getting my csection apron removed. I had 2 sections that both went really bad. Lost of scar tissue almost didn't allow the second baby to come out alive. So my muscles are shot to hell down there. I have a huge apron! I have been told getting it removed will help my back and probably be beneficial in helping my weight loss... I just feel like if I did it I would be taking an "easy" road... I am just at a cross road of wondering if people will think that I didn't try hard enough or what not... Hard to explain...

Try everything else first. Not because it's a "cop out" but because if you CAN get rid of it with diet an exercise, it will be much healthier for your belly over all. There are risks with the surgery, and you will have another permanent scar.
If after you've lost all the weight and lifted heavy things consistently for a long time and it's still causing you problems, get the operation if you feel like it's necessary and worth the risk.0 -
There is nothing easy about surgery. I don't think feeling like 'you took the easy road' is a good reason not to do it.0

If it is scar tissue and excess skin, get the surgery. No weight loss will help excess skin. I will probably have to get some type of surgery for loose skin when I reach my goal weight.0

Who cares what people think. If it is uncomfortable for you and you can fix it via surgery, do it. In the long run it will probably make you feel so much better which will in turn make you take care of yourself even more.0

I know when I get halfway to my goal, or even to my goal (if I ever make it that far LOL) I will have what I guess you are calling an apron I'm definitely going to get mine removed. I don't care if I can't afford it, I will take out loans LOL. And I don't care what other people think. Other people haven't been in my shoes. If I make the effort and lose all that weight then THAT is what matters to me.
Plus maybe a little vein in thinking that getting it removed will also lose more weight, that hanging skin, nothing is every going to put it back where it's supposed to be at least not in my case. Go with how you feel, try not to think about what other people will think of you if you get it done, it is your life not their's and they have no right to judge you. A lot of that might be easier said than done to think too0 -
There is a big difference between having surgery because diet and exercise is too hard/not working/whatever and having surgery because of scar tissue and excess skin. I have a friend right now who is working her butt off (literally!) to get her weight down while saving money for surgery to have her apron removed when she's done. Trust me... NO ONE thinks she's taking the easy way out.0
