So I am having trouble staying within my calories and because I am new and just started I am a bit tired from working out everyday, etc so I get hungry which is why I go over. I am eating plenty of protein and veggies, etc but I am still over. Not by much but enough to where the dang log keeps telling me that if everyday were like today I would weigh the same in a month! Not exactly what I am going for here! LOL Anyone have any good recipe ideas for lower cal filling meals? Preferably a meal like dinner?

what is "low cal" for you? (i.e. what is your calorie goal currently set at? I eat ~2000 calories a day so anything under 500 cals is low cal for me but when I started and was eating 1200 cals per day I know I aimed for 300).
stir fries with lots of veggies are always a good choice
salads & soups too0 -
what a bout a veggie lasagna? where instead of noodles you use thin slices of eggplant or zucchini? lowfat cheese also to help keep the calories down?
you can have a cup or more of spaghetti squash for very low calories, or toss canned green beans(french style) into nearly any meal as added volume.
a veggie soup?0 -
Can you make your diary public? Helps when you have questions about changing your normal diet around.
You can get a good filling meal with meat and vegetables seared/roasted/baked in oven and cover them with olive/coconut oil. You can also have yogurt and/or berries in bulk as a desert and still be under 500 calories for the entire meal.
Protein and fat will keep you full much longer than carb heavy meals like pasta or cereals.0 -
I usually substitute quinoa for meals I would have previously had with rice or pasta. I like to make a stiry fry and eat it with quinoa. A lot of protein also helps to keep me full. One thing that's helped me is to eat a fairly large breakfast with a lot of protein (i.e. turkey bacon and egg sandwich) that keeps me fuller throughout the day!0

you can creep my diary If you'd like, I eat three 400 calorie meals / day and a few 100ish calorie snacks... it will give you some ideas...
I find cutting meat makes it REALLY east to keep the calories down, so I eat 75% vegetarian.. not sure if that would work for you, but you can friend me and stalk my eating if you want0 -
This is gonna sound crazy but here goes....
Eat more fat and maybe protein (depends what you eat now) and less carbs. Our body needs fat and protein and without them (especially fat) one will feel hungry all the time. Fat is healthy and filling and necessary.
I have resolved illness and have saved money by eating more nutrient dense foods rather than "filling up" on low calorie foods.0 -

Ignore that and eat white potatoes

I make a stir-fry with some chicken, onions, LOADS of celery and cooked with soy sauce, garlic and pepper flakes. It's very tasty and probably takes more calories to eat and digest than you get from it (Haha, the old lie about celery).0

I decided to turn to quorn, I'm not a veggie but find substituting meat for quorn means not only can u have more because it is so low in cals but its actually really nice! I swear by it now0

Have you considered eating more often throughout the day? I've been eating 6 times a day. breakfast, lunch and dinner, with snacks in between and before I go to bed. I try to make sure I eat every 3 hours. I've been doing it for about 1month and 2 weeks, and with a little exercise I've lost 18 pounds so far. Eating so often keeps me satisfied and I find that I don't need as big of a portion at a mealtime. I'm also concentrating on eating lower calorie, low glycemic index friendly foods. Foods that take longer to digest (which will help you feel full longer.) High protein. A normal snack for me is half a protein bar, or a small lite piece of cheese. I've been eating a lot of firm tofu, or boneless skinless chicken breast covered in hot sauce, lots of eggbeaters and sarah lee's 45 calorie bread for sandwiches. Oh and a pinch of flax seed meal in almost everything. :-)0
