Hello
I've been on a few diets in the last few years...but I've never counted calories before! Yikes. :o)
I love the fitness pal app....it's so easy to use and it's slightly addicting.
I have five children and in the past have been able to keep my weight within a normal range but I'm turning 40 this year and have noticed the scale approaching a number I'm not comfortable with!
I've also recently discovered a gluten allergy which has caused me to gain about ten pounds. Yes I've cut out all those gluten free snacks. I try to stick with low calorie high fibre gluten free grains when I can.
I just want to lose about 10-15 pounds.

Is it really important to stick with fitness pal's recommended % fat/protein/carb?

I'm gluten free so it's tough eating low carb/low fat/low calorie grains.
Anyone want to peek at my food diary and give me some advice? :o)

I'm 5 foot 2 inches
127 pounds.
Nicole

Being diligent about accurately counting calories was actually the hardest part for me, it seemed so tedious! But it has been crucial
to keep in the weight range I want. After awhile you have a decent list of foods saved up you can just choose from, and being able to scan barcodes with the app is a huge time saver!

Welcome to MFP! I have been tracking since the first of the year and have dropped 24 lbs. I have a long way to go, but it is really making sense to me.

Using the app is a lot easier if you weight and measure all your food. I pull out my food scale and measuring cups/spoons at every meal. My kids (who are adults/nearly an adult) are used to it by now. It might seem odd to some, but I know I have to do this.

It will get easier for you too. I don't have the gulten allergy, but am diabetic, so I have food restrictions as well.

You will start seeing results, I'm sure, so long as you make the effort, which you already seem committed to doing!
