Can't work out due to injury

I can't work out due to a knee injury. Surgery next week and 6 weeks of recovery. I've been sticking to 1200 calories a day (down from about 1800). I've been in "maintenance" for 15+ years. I just want to avoid gaining any weight while I'm recovering. I'm on major pain meds which make me sleep most of the time. Doctor's orders are rest with my leg iced and elevated. Is 1200 ok?

I had an injury last year and gained 10 lbs ... not the end of the world but still, it made me feel bad and my clothes felt tight. Just trying to avoid that this time around. Currently 5'9" and 140-145 lbs. The major swelling in my right leg changes my weight so I'm trying to go by clothes and how they feel. I'm used to working out twice a day ... I love running, walking the dogs, spinning, etc.

The doctor mentioned an anti-inflammatory diet. Any suggestions for either?

Honestly, 6 - 7 weeks isn't all THAT long in the grand scheme of things, but eating right around your BMR might not be that bad if you are essentially bedridden.

I'm sure you know what I'm going to say - Paleo is supposed to be anti-inflammatory because it gets rid of all of the potential sources of foods you could be allergic to. That being said, you know what your body does and does not "get along with" so I'd say stick to your 1200 cal/day plan and listen to your body! 6-7 weeks is not that bad - you'll be up and running before you know it :)
