TRX!

Anyone on here doing TRX? IF so, how long have you been doing it and what have your results been? I started doing it late summer early fall of 2012 and stopped in October and started again 6 weeks ago doing it twice a week with a certified trainer. I LOVE it, the results in 6 weeks in my strength and form are amazing. I feel awesome, my run times are better and overall I am more tone and in the best shape ever. I highly reccommend this workout if you havent tried it. I would love to hear your success stories!

I have never done a TRX class, but have been strongly considering; however, for some reason, I'm having an irrational reluctance to actually attend. I don't know how "set" the routine is, but could your provide some additional information about it?

I've read the class description from my gym and know you use your body weight and it's supposed to be a good core workout, and I know I've seen the "stations" with the straps- that's the extent of my knowledge. Is it normally conducted as circuit training where people rotate to the various stations, or is everyone doing the same thing, at the same time, at their individual stations? Are all of the exercises done with the resistance straps or are they just a tool incorporated periodically? Other than following some videos, I really have little experience with resistance bands/weights, and frankly, probably haven't used "ideal" form. I suspect part of my concern/intimidation is that, mentally, I'm thinking it's a circuit class and I won't be able to look around to see what I'm supposed to be doing (corny, I know...)

So, if you're in a position to add some input, I'd love to hear it! I suspect I'm mainly dealing with fear of the unknown, which sadly, is enough to hold me back- even at my age.... :blushing:

No, it is not a circuit training class. Everyone is doing the same thing at the same time, using the straps the entire time. The whole purpose of TRX is to strengthen not only your core, but your entire body. Form is the most important aspect of this class, if you dont have the right form then you could end up injuring yourself. When I first started I was scared, thinking I can't do this, but low and behold I did it and have gotten stronger and my form is 100% better. This was designed by two Navy guys who were out at sea, looking for a way to workout while on ship, this workout really works. It is a little intimidating watching and learning new routines, but man once you get it, its fun. This is something that you can definitely tell where you are getting stronger. If you have a chance to try it, I highky recommend it, but dont do it once and give up, its something you have to keep working at.

I have it on the agenda for Wednesday morning. I'll just have to remind myself that "everyone starts somewhere" when I can't totally keep up. But, hey, this morning was spin and I didn't keep up there either- haha..

    Thanks for the feedback!

Ok, so Wednesday didn't happen (overslept), but today did! I can definitely feel it and definitely pushed harder than I would on my own, but I really enjoyed it! Planning to go back and see if my butt (among other things) can be TRX'd into shape

    Thanks, again, for the feedback!
